Carlisle Local Schools held the ribbon cutting for their new school on Monday.  It wasn't the same event that it would have been without the Coronavirus pandemic.  It was announced at last week's school board meeting that the public would not be allowed to tour the school at this time.  The ceremony was also kept brief.  School Board President Bill Jewell Sr. spoke for around five minutes.

Jewell talked about the process of getting the levy passed by voters.  He said the committee was was led by Courtney Steckel.  He also gave shout outs to Jimmy Allen, Jim Gross and Ron Diver, also giving thanks to the teachers and employees.   Jewell did mention former board members who were instrumental in getting the new school and he gave mentions to some community members.  There were a lot of volunteers that made it possible to pass the bond issue by 67 percent of the vote.

Jewell gave a very special thank you to Larry Hook, who was previously superintendent of Carlisle Local Schools until earlier this summer.  "He oversaw this project from the very beginning to the end," Jewell said.  "He has spent countless hours working with our construction team. Without his leadership and direction, this new building would not have come together."

Jewell also gave thanks to his fellow board members.   "As board president, I would like to dedicate this building to the children and the citizens of Carlisle and thanks to everyone who made this possible for the future of Carlisle," Jewell said.
