Duwve Announced As New Director Of Ohio Dept. Of Health, Withdraws From Consideration
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced that Dr. Joan Duwve had been named the new director of the Ohio Department of Health. The position was previously held by Dr. Amy Acton until she stepped down from the position earlier this year. Hours following the announcement, it was announced that Dr. Duwve had withdrawn her name for consideration for the position, citing personal reasons. DeWine said in a release that they will continue their search for a new candidate.
Dr. Duwve was named the Director of Public Health with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. This position would have allowed Dr. Duwve to return to her home state. Previously, Dr. Duwve worked in Indiana. A tweet posted to DeWine's account on Twitter said that Duwve had served Governors Mitch Daniels, Mike Pence, and Eric Holcomb as the Chief Medical Officer with the Indiana Department of Health and as the Medical Director for the Department’s Division of Public Health and Preparedness.
