Many Upset After Little Miami Football Players Are Suspended From Team Indefinitely
Seniors Brady Williams and Jarad Bentley, who played football for Little Miami, were suspended from the team. They had apparently asked to carry a flag with a thin blue line and a flag with a thin red line on the field before their game on Sept. 11. When their request was declined, the two players decided to do it anyway.
After word spread about the decision, many people posted on social media about the decision. Some posts said district leaders should be ashamed and some called for the resignation or firing of Superintendent Greg Power. Multiple people sent tweets to President Donald Trump about the issue. ESPN football commentator Kirk Herbstreit was tagged in at least one tweet.
A online petition on change.org was started after the decision was announced asking for the administration of Little Miami to un-suspend the two players. In less than three hours, the petition has been signed nearly 4,500 times. In addition to the signatures, many people also made comments on the petition page to support the students.
