Superintendent Mike Sander Thanks Voters For Approving Bond Issue

Greetings from Franklin City Schools!

On Tuesday, voters in the Franklin City School district had a chance to say yes or no to new buildings for our students. Not only did they say yes, they said yes by an overwhelming margin, and in every precinct. Speaking for the board of education, staff, and students of Franklin City Schools, thank you!

Passing the bond issue is a huge victory for our students and our community; we're now poised to embark on the largest capital project the district has ever undertaken. When this once-in-a-lifetime work is finished, we will have invested $130 million in our students and community.
Passing this issue required a partnership among many people and groups. Thank you to:

... the Franklin Board of Education, who listened to the community's wishes for new buildings and took the steps to make that happen

... the members of the Community Advisory Team who met for nine months to develop a building configuration plan they believed the rest of the community would support

... community residents who who shared their input in a public forum and in a survey

... the Franklin City Schools' staff. They've worked tirelessly on the hundreds of tasks and details needed to put on a bond issue and to make sure the public had accurate information

... the businesses and community organizations who endorsed the issue, and lent their support to its passage

... the campaign committee, who worked tirelessly to share information about the bond issue and why it was so important to our students and to the Franklin community

... and finally, to our community, who despite a pandemic that's created disruption and economic uncertainty, overwhelmingly said that we should take advantage of this incredible offer from the State of Ohio to build new buildings. We take the public trust seriously, and are gratified by your vote of confidence. Thank you!

We're excited, grateful, and happy to have the hard work of passing the bond issue behind us, and eager to work with the community as we start the design and construction phases.
