Franklin, OH -- Franklin's Athletic Director Brian Bales stated he wanted to thank the Franklin Athletic Boosters who recently donated thousands of dollars to help several of the sport programs purchase equipment and other tools needed for the athletes.

Wrestling

The wrestling team competed in the Edgewood Invitational this past weekend. There were 26 teams in the tournament with Franklin finishing 13th overall as a team. Senior Gage Anderson won the invitational at 113lbs and Senior Landen Speers took 2nd at 150lbs.

The team also had some duals over the past week. On Tuesday, the team beat Indian Hill in a dual but lost to Western Brown by 6 points without our full lineup. 

This weekend the team travels to CJ High School to dual CJ and Tipp. Wrestling starts at 6pm Saturday. 

Swim

The swimmers want to give a big shout out to the boosters that approved funding for equipment. The team really appreciates your support!

Swimmers of the 12/11 meet:

  • Boys - Trent Lewis
  • Girls - Riley Mullin

Dayton Christian Invite is on Saturday 12/18 at the Dayton Raiders Aquatic Center (DRAC). The meet is a great way to end our 2021 half of the season. Bus will leave at 1:15 pm. Warm-ups at 2:00 pm with Meet starting at 2:45 pm.

The next competition will not be until the Southwest Coaches Classic in January at WTRC.

Bowling

Girls Bowling
Girls lost their matches this week against some tough competition but we keep making great strides in our games. We lost 1925 - 1957 to Summit Country Day on 12/10. CJ Jones was high average for the night with a 158.5 with Arebella Lloyd (151.5) and Bailey Judy (150.5) close behind. Arebella bowled her personal best score of 172. 

On 12/13 we lost to Mason 1849 - 1907. CJ Jones had the high average of 171 and Bailey Judy had 144. CJ bowled an incredible 192 game. 

On 12/15 we lost to Beavercreek 1901 - 2,276. CJ Jones had the high average of 168 and Payton Perez was close behind with a 150.5. Payton Perez was on fire and bowled her personal best of 187! 

I am proud of the progress that they are making thus far. Even our baker game averages are rising each week. Keep up the hard work! Our next match is January 5 at JD Legends against Summit Country Day.

Boys Bowling

The Boys Bowling Team had busy week .The Cats bowled at Madison Lanes last Friday against Summit Day.The Team dropped a close match to Summit. Ashton Smiley had the high series (424) and game (229). Landon Smiley had a Personal Best score of 177. 

The Team bowled Mason on Monday. The Cats bowled well but could not top the talented Mason squad. Ashton Smiley led the cats with a 402 series and a 205 game. 

Wednesday, the Cats hosted Beavercreek. Elijah Milligan led the Team with a 376 series. Unfortunately, the Team lost to Beavercreek. 

Thursday, the Team won at Capri Lanes versus Dunbar. The Team bowled a season best 225 bakers game to help get the victory.

The Bowling Cats are now off until after the Christmas break. 

Basketball

Boys Basketball

The Boys Basketball team had a hard fought win on the road vs. Valley View last Friday night 88-64. Our record is 5-1 overall and 3-0 in league play. 

Noah Rich had a monster game (double-double) with 34 points and 16 rebounds. Nate Paarlberg had 33 points in the contest. Evan Fry and Ashton Everitt really sparked the team in the 3rd and 4th quarters with great play and crucial rebounds.

The Cats return to action Friday vs. a very good experienced Bellbrook squad who is undefeated in league play.  Tuesday night, we host Division 1 Lebanon in a non league match up.

Congrats to our JV and 9th grade teams on their wins last Friday vs. Valley View. 

Also, both JV and 9th grade teams participated in community service yesterday in downtown Franklin. They did an awesome job!

Girls Basketball
The Lady Cats dropped a SWBL match to Valley View last night dropping
the record to 0-7. The Girls host Carlisle Saturday with a 12:00 noon JV start with
Varsity tipping off at 1:15. 

On Monday, the Lady Cats host National Trail with a 7:15 tip in a non-league Varsity only game.

Lacrosse

We are excited to be adding Clay Wells to our staff this year! He is an experienced Lacrosse Coach with unmatched passion and energy and is ready to help take this program to the next level. Our workouts for December include the following dates for anyone interested:

  • Weight Room Dates: 20th, 22nd, 27th, and the 29th : 10:30am-11:30am
  • Stick Work Dates: 21st 10am-11am: Main Gym
  • 30th 12pm-1pm: Back Gym
  • 31st 12pm-1pm: Back Gym

The Boosters and all student-athletes have officially kicked off the 4th annual beef raffle. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from any athlete or on our website at https://shop.franklinathleticboosters.org/shop/4th-annual-beef-raffle-7. We will be giving out five prize levels this year:

Grand Prize: One year subscription to Finch Creek Farms monthly package(10-12lb of beef, chicken and pork) and a Traeger Grill.

1st Prize: 1/4 Freezer Beef and a chest freezer

2nd Prize: 1/4 Freezer Beef and $100.00 Gift card

3rd Prize: 1/4 Freezer Beef and $50.00 Gift card

4th Prize: 1/4 Freezer Beef

Also, the top 3 selling student-athletes will each receive a $200.00 gift card.

Winners will be chosen at halftime of the Tuesday, January 4, 2022 boys' basketball game.
