Springboro Mayor John Agenbroad and Springboro City Council presented a $100,000 grant to administrators from Springboro Schools. The money is for upgrades to technology and remote learning, according to a post on the City of Springboro's Twitter account.
According to the United States Department of Treasury's website, The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act provides funds to state, local and tribal governments to help them with the unexpected expenses related to COVID-19. Governments are only allowed to use CARES Act money for certain reasons. These include expenditures that were necessary because of the COVID-19 public health crisis, expenditures not accounted for in the most recent budget on March 27, 2020 (the day the CARES Act was enacted) and were expenditures from March 1 to December 30 of this year.
The grant that the city leaders presented to Springboro Schools was around half of the funds the City of Springboro received as part of the CARES Act.
