Acoustapalooza 2020 “A Concert for Juvenile Diabetes”

Outperforms even the biggest expectations!

By Scott Hall, Hall Around Town Radio

Some of the area’s most popular local musicians have helped to raise over $18,000 this year to support local children with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes by performing in the second annual Acoustapalooza Concert.

Several local celebrities along with 18 musical acts, took part in the 9-hour show at The Barrel in Springboro, Ohio

As one of the organizers for this second-year event, I can’t begin to say how proud we all are of what we accomplished during these difficult times with COVID, social distancing delays and scheduling issues. "I am so humbled to have been a part of this event and our incredible community of musicians, donors, volunteers and sponsors. Never could I have imagined that the concert would be such a success this year." The Barrel and their staff provided the venue, logistical support and worked hard to ensure that we could accommodate the guests in a safe manner.

Originally set for March 22, 2020 the fundraiser was delayed time and time again until it was finally brought to the stage on August 30th. There were raffles, door prizes, games and a host of businesses and individuals that donated to have their name appear on a table, as the sponsor a band or musician, or just provided support with their name displayed all day on electronic donor boards on the multiple TV’s throughout the venue.

The concert was divided into two stages for the non-stop music event. The Main Stage was sponsored by Superior Hyundai of Beavercreek and the side stage was made possible by the generosity of Ruscello’s Salon in Springboro. Sound and Lighting was provided for the entire day by Dr. J and J Productions which was no easy task with 18 separate music acts. The larger bands played for 45 minutes on the main stage while the solos and duos played a 15-minute set on the side stage. The concert became a widely talked about event in 2019 when many of the same musicians from this year took to the stage to raise a sizeable donation of $8,500 for the Dayton Children’s Hospital Foundation and their Juvenile Diabetes programs.

Several of our talented local artists participating this year have taken the time to reach out to followers on social media with their feelings about this special once a year event:

Shane Demoss of “Until Rust”: “Acoustapolooza is undoubtedly the highlight of my year. Being a Type 1 diabetic myself and also being able to see other local musicians perform, which is always very hard to do when you’re usually playing out yourself. The local venue owners, music community and community really come together for this Hall Around Town Radio Production. I'm extremely proud and honored to have been part of it.”

Tiffany Maye of “Short of Stable”: “We were honored to be a part of such an awesome event for such an amazing cause! And hats off to Scott for being the man for the job - truly amazing event!”

Jay Clark of the “Jay Clark Band”: “Acoustapalooza is one of our favorite gigs to play. The opportunity to perform and hang out with our friends, great musicians, and passionate fans makes for a fantastic experience. Scott Hall has put together a top-notch production team and he works tirelessly for musicians, venues, and his charity. We are proud to help support Dayton Children’s Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and Hall Around Town Radio. Thank you to the Barrel for hosting again. You guys rock!”

Such generosity during a pandemic! So many giving and caring people joined together to make this year’s event very special. Thank you those who gave their time, money or support to this amazing day. During hardships like this, we have to lean on each other for help and boy did everyone come through donating an astounding $18,300 to the charity.
