What is your name?  Aimee Plesa

What is your job title?  Owner

What is the name of your business?  Speakeasy Sweets

How long have you owned the business?  13 years under a couple of different names.

What service do you provide to your customers?  I make candy and baked goods.

How do you decide what products or events will be offered to customers?  Many of my items are chosen as they have been special requests from customers but quite a few are updated classics. As for events, I try to choose or create events that speak to me on a personal level.

What was your vision when you started the business?  When I started my business, it was because I was a stay at home mom of 3 little ones in diapers. Working outside of the house wasn’t an option, but I wanted to contribute in some way.

Since you have owned the business, what accomplishment makes you the most proud?  There have been several “proud moments”, but the two tied at the top of my list were being chosen to participate in the annual Chef Showdown and being nominated for Best Chef in the Dayton.com Best of Dayton competition.

What is your most popular product or service?  Right now, hot chocolate bombs are easily my most popular product, but overall cake balls take that honor.

What is something new that customer can look forward to seeing at your business in 2021?  In 2021, I am working hard to expand my product line, especially the boozy products. I have worked hard to create unique, yet delicious, alcohol infused goodies and I’m hoping to have a boozy counterpart to 95% of my products.

What kind of charities or non-profit organizations does your business support?  Charities to work to end hunger-especially childhood hunger, are my go to charities. So much so, that I created Cupcake It Forward last year during the height of the shutdown. The goal is to help any family in need receive the meals they need to survive. It also works to help those in need have happier celebrations in their life by providing them with cupcakes purchased by those wanting to help others.

What would you like to say to your customers?  To my customers, I say thank you for believing in me! And for trusting in me to help make your memories a little sweeter.
