Welcome back fellow Ohio History enthusiasts for part 2 of Fort Washington at Cincinnati!
In this episode, we learn more about Fort Washington and the First American Regiment commanded by Josiah Harmar. We find out more about the construction and materials used to construct such a large fort - to include clay, glass, and hewn logs for the long palisades. From this record, we learn about lumber recovered from flatboats in Limestone (now Maysville) Kentucky and used for various constructions. The fort now has a water supply (as of the summer of 1791) in our story - thanks to the well digging skills of John Robert Shaw.
