Some Familiar Faces Are Moving To New Places

CARLISLE, OH -- When students at Carlisle return to school for the 2026-2027 school year, they will be greeted by three major staff changes.

NEW SUPERINTENDENT

Mike Milner, who has been a part of the Carlisle School District for 31 years, has moved from being a school principal in the district to its superintendent. When starting out in the district, Milner was a classroom teacher and coach. He moved from being a teacher to assistant principal before moving to his most recently position, principal in the district's elementary school.

"I am humbled and honored to move into the role of superintendent for the 2026-2027 school year," Milner explained, noting that his many years of working with the students, staff and families, as well as being active in the Carlsile community as a whole, has provided him with a deep understanding of the district’s strengths and the important role the school plays throughout the community.

"At the center of our work is a commitment to students. Every decision made by the district will support student learning, growth, and success. While academic achievement remains a primary focus, we also recognize the importance of supporting students’ social, emotional, and personal development. Our goal is to provide opportunities and experiences that prepare students for success in college, careers, military service, and life beyond graduation," he noted.

Milner explained that the success of the students is made possible by the dedication of Carlisle's staff. "Teachers, aides, secretaries, administrators, bus drivers, food service employees, coaches, and volunteers work each day to create a positive learning environment and provide students with the support they need to succeed. Their commitment to excellence, continuous improvement, and student achievement is our greatest strength," he explained.

Milner is replacing Robert Fischer, who took a position as the Superintendent of the Greene County Educational Service Center in Yellow Springs. Fischer's last day is July 31.

NEW BOBBY GRIGSBY PRINCIPAL — GRADES 4-6

Jessica Hoban returns to her alma mater with 17 years of experience in education with her return. A 2001 Carlisle High School graduate, Hoban has served as a classroom teacher, literacy specialist, and most recently, an elementary principal at Bauer Elementary School in the Miamisburg City School District.

"I am honored to join this outstanding school community," Hoban explained, noting that she is committed to fostering clear and consistent communication with students, staff, and families.

"I believe that strong relationships are the cornerstone of a successful school and organization, and I look forward to getting to know each member of our school community... My educational foundation is rooted in the belief that a strong academic foundation can open doors for lifelong success. Equally important is building a positive school culture where students feel a sense of belonging, staff members are empowered to do their best work, and families are welcomed and needed as true partners in the educational process," she added.

Hoban added that she is "passionate about continuing the strong traditions we have in this wonderful village and strengthening our school system for our students, staff, families, and the community I am fortunate to be a part of."

ASSISTANT HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL/ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Samantha Lee has been named Carlisle High School's new Assistant Principal and Athletic Director. A proud Carlisle High School graduate, Lee is excited to return to her alma mater and serve the school and community that helped shape her life and career.

Lee earned her bachelor's degree from Morehead State University and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Antioch McGregor Midwest. Throughout her career in education, she has been committed to supporting student success, fostering positive school culture, and promoting excellence in both academics and athletics.

Returning home is especially meaningful for Lee. She and her husband, Jay, are proud to have deep roots in the Carlisle community. Together they have two daughters, Mariah and Jayden, and two sons-in-law, Dustin and Dominic, all of whom are graduates of Carlisle High School. Samantha is also the proud grandmother of Teddy and a devoted dog mom to Poppy.

"I am truly honored to return to Carlisle High School," said Lee. "This school and community have always held a special place in my heart. I look forward to working alongside our outstanding students, staff, families, and community members to continue the excellence and traditions that define Carlisle High School while building new opportunities for future generations. It is a privilege to come home and serve the place that has given so much to me and my family."

The Carlisle Local School District serves as an important part of our community, Milner noted adding, "While our school is a place where students learn and grow, it is also a gathering place that brings people together through academics, athletics, arts, and community events. The strong partnership between our school and community contributes significantly to the success of our students and helps maintain the traditions and values that make Carlisle such a special place."

Milner added that the district will continue to focus on providing high-quality educational opportunities, maintaining strong relationships with families and community members, and ensuring that resources are used responsibly and effectively.

"We will build upon our successes while seeking opportunities for growth and improvement that benefit our students and community," he explained, adding, "I am grateful for the trust placed in me as superintendent and look forward to working with our Board of Education, staff, students, families, and community members as we continue to move Carlisle Local Schools forward. Together, we will remain focused on providing the best possible educational experience for every student."
