Dr. Lucy Ginther and the Mason Symphony Orchestra present “MSO Masterworks America 250” celebrating America’s 250th with works by American composers Aaron Copland, George Gershwin, and Morton Gould.

George Gershwin’s “An American in Paris,” is a jazz- influenced tone poem capturing the lively hustle bustle of busy 1920’s Parisian streets, complete with those iconic taxi horns!

Aaron Copland composed the musical score for “Our Town” and “Fanfare for the Common Man” during the 1940’s. The “Fanfare” was commissioned by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and premiered in 1943.

You will recognize Morton Gould’s “American Salute” when the opening strains give way to the Civil War song “When Johnny Comes Marching Home.” Go ahead and hum along!

We are also excited to introduce you to our 2026 Stuart Horrell Memorial Scholarship Award winner pianist Langston Humphrey who will perform the 3rd movement of the Haydn Piano Concerto in D Major with the Orchestra. We hope you will join us for our last concert of the season!  Tickets are $22, $10 for students, children 10 and under are free.  For more information and tickets:  www.masonsymphonyorchestra.org
