(COLUMBUS, OH) -- Special Olympics athletes from the Warren County Board of Developmental Disabilities won 12 gold medals after competing in the Ohio Winter Games on the weekend of February 21, 2026.
Swimmers competed in freestyle, breaststroke, individual medley, backstroke, and as members of a 4x25 relay team. In total, 18 Warren County athletes brought home 12 gold medals, seven silver medals, and four bronze medals.
- Kelly Crabtree, 38, of Mason, earned three medals: gold as part of the 4x25 relay team, silver in the 100-meter freestyle, and silver for breaststroke. Kelly will be representing Ohio at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minnesota this summer.
- Kendra Denlinger, 32, of Waynesville, earned silver in the 50-meter freestyle and placed 5th in the individual medley.
- Nick Drewry, 24, of Springboro, earned bronze in the 50-meter freestyle.
- Ryan Dunne, 29, of Springboro, earned gold as a member of the 4x25 relay team, placed 4th in the 100-meter freestyle, and placed 5th in the 50-meter freestyle.
- Alexandra “Ally” Huber, 22, of Mason, missed the award ceremony for her silver medal in the 200-meter freestyle because she immediately had to compete in the 100-meter backstroke, where she won a gold medal. She also won a gold medal as a member of the 4x25 relay team.
- Carson Hutzel, 29, of Mason, placed 6th on the 4x25 relay team and 7th in the 25-meter freestyle.
- Aleena Ghohestani, 17, of Mason, earned silver in the 50-meter backstroke, bronze in the 50-meter freestyle, and placed 4th as a member of the 4x25 relay team.
- Jakob Jordan, 24, of Morrow, placed 4th in the 50-meter freestyle, 6th as a member of the 4x25 relay team, and 7th in the 25-meter backstroke.
- Elena Mahle, 27, of Dayton, placed 4th in the 50-meter butterfly and 6th as a member of the 4x25 relay team.
- Madeline “Maddi” Malcom, 13, of Waynesville, earned gold in the 25-meter freestyle, gold as a member of the 4x25 relay team, and placed 4th in the 50-meter freestyle.
- Luke Marshall, 34, of Lebanon, earned gold as a member of the 4x25 relay team, bronze in the 50-meter freestyle, and placed 8th in the 25-meter backstroke.
- Maddox McCart, 17, of Lebanon, placed 4th in the 50-meter freestyle, 4th in the 4x25 relay team, and 5th in the 100-meter freestyle.
- Mason McCart, 21, of Lebanon, earned three medals: gold as part of the 4x25 relay team, gold in the 200-meter freestyle, and bronze in the 50-meter breaststroke.
- Xander McCart, 15, of Lebanon, placed 4th in the 25-meter freestyle, 6th in the 50-meter freestyle, and 6th in the 4x25 relay team.
- Arlynn Rapin, 16, of Mason, earned gold as a member of the 4x25 relay team, placed 4th in the 50-meter freestyle, and placed 5th in the 50-meter backstroke.
- David Werner, 41, of Mason, earned silver in the 50-meter backstroke, placed 4th in the 50-meter freestyle, and placed 4th as a member of the 4x25 relay team.
- John “Jack” Wojno II, 24, of Mason, earned gold as a member of the 4x25 relay team, placed 4th in the 50-meter backstroke, and placed 4th in the 50-meter freestyle.
