WARREN COUNTY, OH -- Warren County's Congressman Greg Landsman (D-OH-01) announced his War Powers Resolution with Congressman Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ-05) was to be voted on yesterday in the U.S. House of Representatives at 4PM.

The War Powers Resolution that would limit military action without Congressional approval, barely failed as it was a tie 212-212. In the House, a tie vote means the measure fails.

This was the third failed attempt by lawmakers to curb the administration's military operations in Iran. (Three Republicans; Reps. Thomas Massie, Brian Fitzpatrick, and Tom Barrett, supported the measure, while Democrat Rep. Jared Golden voted against it.)

Prior to the vote Congressman Gottheimer explained“This vote isn’t about whether we should crush the Iranian regime — we should,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “It's a message to the President and his Administration: come to us and make your case. It’s been seventy-four days since the start of the conflict in Iran, and Congress still hasn’t been formally briefed on the objectives, our progress, or what success looks like.”

Congressman Landsman added“Trump needs to come to Congress immediately, and he needs to end this conflict. His comments have been reckless, his inability to build the coalitions necessary has been stunning, and his unwillingness to work with Congress is unconstitutional.”
