WARREN COUNTY, OH— As students head back to the classroom this month, Dan Beard Council, Scouting America, is inviting kids and families across the region to start the year with a new kind of adventure. The back-to-school season is one of the best times to join Scouting, a proven way for youth to make new friends, build lifelong skills, and give back to their community.
Scouting programs from Cub Scouts to Scouts BSA, Venturing, and Sea Scouts welcome boys and girls in kindergarten through age 20. Members camp, hike, and explore alongside peers who become lasting friends, while adult volunteers guide them through hands-on activities that build confidence, leadership, and character. Along the way, Scouts complete community service projects that make a real difference where they live.
“Scouting gave me the friendships, the outdoor experiences, and the leadership skills that shaped who I am today, and I see that same transformation happen in kids across our council every single year,” said Andy Zahn, Scout Executive, President and CEO of Dan Beard Council, and an Eagle Scout himself. “The start of the school year is the perfect time for a family to give Scouting a try. In just a few months, you’ll see a child who is more confident, more capable, and surrounded by great friends.”
Enrollment is open now for the 2026-2027 program year. Families can find a local pack or troop by visiting www.BeAScout.org.
