MIDDLETOWN, OH — Atrium Medical Center has been named one of America's 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Care for 2027 by Healthgrades, a national organization that evaluates hospital performance based on patient outcomes.
The Warren County hospital, part of the Premier Health system, also received national recognition for excellence in cardiology, stroke treatment and pulmonary care.
Atrium earned both the Healthgrades Cardiac Care Excellence Award and Cardiology Excellence Award, placing it among the top 15% of hospitals nationwide for overall cardiac services and cardiology services.
The hospital also received the Stroke Care Excellence Award and ranked among the nation's top 15% for stroke treatment. Atrium has earned a five-star rating for stroke treatment for eight consecutive years, from 2020 through 2027.
Additional five-star ratings recognized Atrium's performance in coronary bypass surgery, coronary interventional procedures, heart attack treatment, heart failure treatment and pacemaker procedures.
Atrium also received the Pulmonary Care Excellence Award, placing it among the top 15% nationally for overall pulmonary services. Other five-star distinctions included treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding, respiratory failure and sepsis.
The honors were announced Oct. 27 as part of Healthgrades' 2027 specialty care awards.
Atrium was one of three Premier Health hospitals receiving national recognition.
Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton earned excellence awards for pulmonary care, critical care, emergency hospitalization and gastrointestinal medical treatment.
The hospital also received five-star distinctions in several specialties, including heart failure treatment, for which it has maintained a five-star rating for 21 consecutive years.
Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy received excellence awards for pulmonary and gastrointestinal medical care, ranking among the nation's top 10% for overall pulmonary services and top 15% for gastrointestinal medical treatment.
All three Premier Health hospitals received the Healthgrades Pulmonary Care Excellence Award.
"These recognitions reflect the expertise, compassion, and dedication of our caregivers throughout Premier Health," said Dr. Keith Bricking, Premier Health executive vice president and chief clinical officer.
"As an academic health system, we're uniquely positioned to combine clinical excellence with education, research, and innovation," Bricking said.
Healthgrades bases its specialty awards and ratings on patient outcomes, including mortality and complication rates.
The organization's 2027 evaluations use three years of Medicare patient data, comparing actual patient outcomes with predicted outcomes based on clinical risk factors.
The rankings are designed to help patients compare hospital performance for specific medical conditions and procedures.
Premier Health is a nonprofit academic health system serving Southwest Ohio. Its hospitals are affiliated with Wright State University and the Boonshoft School of Medicine.
