Clearcreek Fire District Responds to Fatal House Fire

SPRINGBORO, OH -- The Clearcreek Fire District responded to a reported structure fire at
approximately 12:31p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at a residence located at 175 Cedar Hill
Lane. 

Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire conditions and initiated an aggressive interior
fire attack and primary search.Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within a few minutes. 

During search operations, one adult occupant was located inside the residence, removed, and transported to Atrium Medical Center. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by fire and emergency medical personnel, the individual was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The fire victim is 74-year-old Lawrence Snyder.

No firefighter injuries were reported. The actions of responding personnel were instrumental in
preventing the fire from spreading to nearby properties. 

While the loss of life in a fire is a tragic reminder of how quickly these incidents can escalate, our thoughts are with the family and loved ones affected during this difficult time.

The cause of the fire is accidental and started in the kitchen as determined by the State Fire
Marshal’s Office. Damage is currently estimated at approximately $120,000.

Residents are reminded to ensure that working smoke alarms are installed on every level of the
home and to practice a home fire escape plan.

Fire Departments who provided mutual aid assistance during the incident were the City of
Franklin Division of Fire and the Miami Valley Fire District.
