Step back in time to Pre-Civil War Waynesville, where quiet streets once carried the footsteps of freedom seekers. Follow your guide through town as you learn about Waynesville’s Quaker roots and the vital role our community played in the Underground Railroad. Hear the stories of brave abolitionists, explore locations that once held secret rooms and hidden tunnels, and walk the very path where courage and hope met in secret.
This guided walking tour begins at the gazebo at 274 S Main Street, covers approximately one mile along sidewalks in historic Downtown Waynesville, and lasts about ninety minutes.
