Miami University ILR Announces Fall 2026 Registration, Courses and Special Events
OXFORD, Ohio — Miami University’s Institute for Learning in Retirement is preparing for its fall 2026 semester, offering a new lineup of courses, special events and opportunities for adults interested in lifelong learning.
Registration for the fall semester opens Sept. 8 at 9 a.m. EDT. Online registration information will be distributed by email at that time. Registration forms received in advance by mail will also be processed Sept. 8 in the order they were received.
This fall’s course offerings cover a wide range of subjects, including arts, history, science and technology. Classes are designed for lifelong learners and include no grades, tests or homework.
Courses will be available in person, online and in hybrid formats.
ILR is also beginning its transition from Webex to Zoom, Miami University’s preferred online platform. For fall 2026, hybrid courses will generally be offered through Zoom, while online-only courses will generally continue using Webex, with some exceptions. Training sessions for both platforms will be offered before the semester begins.
Fall catalogs are expected to arrive by mail in the coming weeks. A digital version of the catalog is also available through ILR.
Fall Kickoff Party Set for Sept. 25
ILR will celebrate the beginning of the semester with its Fall Kickoff Party from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25. Registration for the kickoff party is separate from fall semester course registration and must be completed by Sept. 17.
The event will include a catered barbecue lunch buffet provided by Morrison Living, the Knolls of Oxford’s new caterer, along with a presentation titled “The Ghosts of Ohio” by author and speaker James A. Willis.
30th Anniversary Celebration Planned
ILR is also preparing to mark a major milestone in 2027. The program’s 30th Anniversary Party is scheduled for March 19, 2027. Additional details will be announced as plans are finalized.
ILR Seeking Spring 2027 Course Proposals
ILR is currently accepting proposals from people interested in teaching during the spring 2027 semester. Courses may be offered virtually, in person or in a hybrid format, and instructors can teach for ILR from locations around the world. The spring semester is scheduled for March 29 through April 30, 2027. Course proposals will be accepted through Nov. 30.
ILR encourages prospective instructors to consider sharing knowledge gained through their careers, travels, hobbies, professions or other areas of expertise.
The Institute for Learning in Retirement provides educational and social opportunities for adults who want to continue learning in a relaxed environment without the requirements of traditional college courses.
Additional information, including the fall course catalog, registration details, kickoff party information and spring course proposal forms, is available through Miami University’s Institute for Learning in Retirement.
