DPAA: WORLD CLASS ENTERTAINMENT AT OUR DOORSTEP

WARREN COUNTY, OH -- Although not in Warren County proper, a very short drive away is the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance. This is a group of professional companies under one roof ready to entertain and inspire you. These members are the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, The Dayton Opera and The Dayton Ballet.

Each one has a separate “season” of concerts and events between now and June 2027. However, September 26-27, 2026 the three will come together with performances of the Broadway musical, WEST SIDE STORY. This will be a very special event for it only happens a few times a year that all of the companies DO performances together. Along with professional soloists (Dayton Opera), dancers (Dayton Ballet) and orchestra (Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra), this performance will also feature students from the Wright State University School of Fine and Performing Arts.

WEST SIDE STORY is a modern version of the classic Romeo and Juliet story. Set in New York City in the mid century, it has music by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim. Two Hollywood film versions have been made of the musical, which is noticeably different from either of these. This is a great opportunity to see the “original.”

This full scale production will be the DPAA season “opener” for all the companies ... and one not to miss. 

Over the past few years I have promoted the DPAA in the Warren County Post as it is easy to get to, safe to park and has budget friendly ticket prices for professional concerts unlike those in Cincinnati or Columbus. 

Parking in the Arts Garage (which is fully attended and has security cameras) is across the street from the Schuster Center, where most of the concerts are held. Tickets for WEST SIDE STORY start as low as $35.00 but for various concerts and events the prices will vary. This is a wonderful way to take the family out for a night of classic Broadway theatre.
