LEBANON, Ohio — Residents will have an opportunity to help preserve a piece of Lebanon’s history while learning about some of the community’s earliest residents during a cemetery preservation event planned for Oct. 15.

The “Honor Our History Cemetery Preservation Event” will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at Lebanon Pioneer Cemetery, located at the corner of West Mulberry Avenue and South West Street in Lebanon. The event is being held in connection with the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration.

Organizers are inviting residents to help refresh historic gravesites belonging to some of Lebanon’s early pioneers while also learning about Revolutionary War patriots and the people who helped shape the community.

The day will begin with a brief historical overview and ceremony presented by the Harmon Museum and the Turtlecreek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Members of the Warren County Genealogical Society will then lead tours highlighting the gravesites of Revolutionary War patriots. Cemetery monument cleaning and preservation work will continue throughout the event.

The program’s theme, “Honoring the Past | Preserving the Future,” reflects the effort to combine hands-on preservation with local history as communities across the country prepare to recognize the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026.

Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome. Those attending may bring a chair, bucket and soft nylon brush, although those items are optional.

On-street parking will be available along West Mulberry Avenue and South Harrison Street.

For additional information, contact Melissa Thompson at mthompson@lebanonohio.gov or 513-228-3730.

The event brings together the City of Lebanon, Harmon Museum, Warren County Genealogical Society and Daughters of the American Revolution as part of local efforts to commemorate America 250 while preserving Lebanon’s historic heritage.
