Bonnie Collins Honored at 2026 Hero of Character

MASON, OH -- Bonnie Collins, along with 21 other heroes and 12 finalists from the Tri-State area, was honored at the 2026 Heroes of Character “Together We Thrive” Collins was recognized for how she was able to transform unimaginable loss into a powerful force for good. 

After her daughter Maya bravely battled Acute Myeloid Leukemia for six and a half years, Bonnie honored her legacy by creating The LIVE LIKE MAYA Foundation. The foundation reflects Maya’s spirit of kindness, resilience, and generosity while supporting families facing pediatric cancer.

Since its founding in 2019, the organization has raised more than one million dollars to assist families, advance life-saving research, and strengthen community goodwill. In 2024 alone, the foundation provided direct financial support to families, funded research at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and contributed to organizations such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and Make-A-Wish. It also awarded scholarships and organized community service initiatives that uplift pediatric cancer patients.

By transforming grief into purpose, Collins has demonstrated extraordinary compassion, perseverance, and generosity. Her work continues to bring hope to families during their most difficult moments while building a more caring and supportive community. 

The 2026 Heroes of Character “Together We Thrive” Celebration was held on April 16 at the Delta Marriott in Sharonville, OH. Collins was honored for her work with the LIVE LIKE MAYA foundation.
