MASON, OH – State Representative Adam Mathews (R-Lebanon) celebrates the announcement that the CareSource Invitational, a college basketball tournament, is coming to Mason, bringing a new college basketball event to the Cincinnati Open campus.
Rep. Mathews helped secure $50 million in state funding through Substitute House Bill 2 from the 135th General Assembly to keep the Cincinnati Open in Ohio after discussions of relocating the tournament to North Carolina. As part of those efforts, Mathews advocated for year-round use of the facility through additional major events.
The CareSource Invitational will feature premier college basketball programs while supporting mental health awareness and suicide prevention among young people.
“When we worked to ensure the Cincinnati Open remained in Ohio, one of our requests was for year-round activation for the community and world class events,” said Rep. Mathews. “Now history is being made with College Hoops at center court!”
The event will continue to expand the use of the venue beyond the annual Cincinnati Open, creating additional opportunities for the local economy and community.
