Students at Carlisle Local Schools will be going to class in a brand new school building this year. Carlisle's Interim Superintendent Tom Isaacs said at last night's school board meeting that the ribbon cutting for the new school will be held on Monday.
School Board President Bill Jewell Sr. will serve as the emcee for the event. Isaacs said the informal ribbon cutting ceremony will probably last about 15 minutes. Normally, it would be a time when the public would be invited to take tours of the new facility. However, Issacs said there would be no tours on Monday because of the COVID-19 issues, adding that they would be inviting the public at a later time. "I don't want anyone to feel like we are keeping you out," he said.
Isaacs said teachers had access to the building for the first time on Monday, Aug. 24. They will still need to have an orientation to learn about the school's new features, such as electronic door locks.
"When people see this, they are going to be amazed," Isaacs said, adding that it is the best school building in Warren County. Issacs said officials from Franklin schools have already toured it. Franklin City Schools are going to have a 6.52 mill bond issue on the ballot on Nov. 3 to build new school buildings.
Voters in Carlisle approved a bond issue in May, 2017 for the new school building.
