SPRINGBORO, OH -- Kevin Houser, MSME, PE, has been elected president of the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE-Ohio) at the organization's 147th Annual Meeting. As president, he will help guide the legislative, educational and service activities for the engineering profession in Ohio.
Houser, a member of NSPE-Ohio's Southwest Ohio Chapter, is the CEO and primary associate at St. Andrews Systems, through which he provides services as a professional engineer, consultant, and expert witness in engineering and patent-related areas. He has more than 30 years of medical design experience, including 26 years in the design of power ultrasonic devices for use in medical products.
Previously, he was the director of patent estate and an engineering fellow for Ethicon Endo-Surgery. He has also worked as a mechanical engineer for Eastman Kodak, a project manager for Yellow Springs Instrument Company, and as the principal engineer for Ethicon, Inc. He is the inventor on hundreds of patents in the U.S. and worldwide.
A registered professional engineer in Ohio and Mississippi and a registered patent agent, Houser earned bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. Throughout his career, he has served on multiple industry and academic boards, and he has served the Civil Air Patrol as a squadron commander, mission pilot, aerospace education officer, and wing finance director.
Over the last several years, Houser has served as chair of NSPE-Ohio's Professional Engineers in Industry practice division, and the Ohio New Product Award was reinvigorated under his leadership in this position. Houser was the recipient of NSPE-Ohio's Uncommon Engineer Award in 2023, and he resides in Springboro, Ohio.
