CARLISLE, OH -- Every year at Carlisle Elementary School, a Veteran's Day Assembly to honor its veterans and their families is held. Principal Jennifer Dearwester, who is responsible for organizing the annual program, had many people to thank.

"I am very thankful for Sheila Baker, our superintendent’s secretary, that helps me with this program annually. This year we also partnered with the Community Church in Carlisle... after the ceremony they provided over 40 veterans with a brunch," Dearwester said, adding that ten 6- grade student-council members helped serve the veteran’s brunch.

The assembly, which was on November 11, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., had 76 veterans attend. The program recognized the veterans by:

  •  5th graders singing under the direction of Ms. Hughes,
  • Students reading letters to the veterans,
  • The Kindness Club and student council making a video thanking veteran,
  • Each veteran receiving a thank you card and patriotic pen as a thank you gift to help honor their service to our country.

"I am blessed to be the principal in charge of this very important program. This is my 8th year in the district and 7th year doing the program. We hope this tradition continues to grow," said Dearwester, adding, "The community of Carlisle is a great place to be, and the veterans have truly made a difference in this community, state, and our country. It is a pleasure to continue this annual tradition."
