The day many of us feared but never really thought would happen, has arrived. Hard to believe. Makes you wonder. How could our nation let it happen?
Trump has pardoned almost every January 6 insurrectionist; begun deporting immigrants, sending some away in handcuffs and depriving them of food and water while in transit; fired many Inspector Generals in charge of regulating our nation; removed Diversity, Equity, and Inclusive measures that had been directed by law to prevent discrimination; suspended programs that help the poor (Medicaid), that may include funding for life-saving medical treatment; suspended funding for green energy projects; suggested that limits on drug prices be removed; put the richest man in the world in charge of scrutinizing our government budget, a man who has displayed questionable ethics, at best, in his career; fired the commissioners of the Equal Economic Opportunity Commission; offered severance pay to 2 million federal government employees to reduce the government workforce. But now that he’s actually doing what he said he would, which many believe will harm most of us, it makes you wonder how he ever got elected?
The truth is that Trump is right about one thing. We have problems with the integrity of our elections, and we’ve had them for a long time. We literally have become no better than a banana republic when it comes to our elections.
For years we have heard the stories about rigged elections in other countries, of dictators intimidating or even forcing people to vote for them, in the so-called “banana republics.” Just think of the dictators the CIA in fact helped put to power in the service of American corporations, notably in Central and South America, and their failure in Cuba. See such books as: The Secret Team, Legacy of Ashes, In Search of Enemies, The Devil’s Chessboard, Inside the Company, among other books that detail the nefarious work of the CIA.
Rigged elections in banana republics were why the UN created the exit poll system as a means to check the fraud. It has evolved into a highly accurate system of predictability using the tool of demographics. This is how the news networks have been able to successfully predict the outcome of elections before all the ballots have been counted.
Working with exit polls used by CNN, statistician Ted Soares of Cambridge MA has shown that recent Democratic party Presidential primaries have in all probability been rigged.

How did they do this? By hacking the machines.
However, Soares never says this; he lets his analysis speak for him.
They also fixed it for Biden in 2020 when early primaries showed that both Bernie and Elizabeth Warren had significantly more support than Biden. But this time, they ran a large slate of candidates, who dropped out before Super Tuesday and pledged their delegates to Biden.
Hacking voting machines, which can be done remotely without any obvious visual tampering, is the method of last resort and rare, so far as I know. There are many methods that have compromised our elections, and this has been the province of the Republican Party for at least the last two decades
We all know about gerrymandering. It’s very open but very legal, a process designed by devious politicians to rig voter support in their district, so that the number of voters registered in their district favors their party. In recent years, the Republicans have done the most gerrymandering. A good description is that instead of voters choosing the candidates, the candidates choose the voters
But far more dangerous and a direct threat to democracy is voter suppression.
The Philip Marlowe, private eye Sam Spade, Mike Hammer of voter suppression detection, investigative reporter Greg Palast, has been studying irregularities in our voting system for at least two decades.

I discussed Palast’s work on voting irregularities in my earlier report the week before the November election, notably the use of the Cross Check scam in which Palast said has been in use by the Republicans for some time. To refresh your memory, this system connected persons with the same first and last names across states, but most importantly ignored their middle names and purged them, claiming they voted multiple times. Thing is, however, the persons with the most common names like Hernandez, Johnson, or Vguyen are minorities. As Palast revealed on a broadcast of the Thom Hartmann show, there were 238 James Browns purged.
In Palast’s recent movie, Vigilante Inc, he exposed the vigilante vote challenge system that was instrumental in Trump’s election. The movie came out before the election, reporting that if Trump won, it would be because MAGA Republicans cheated, that Trump actually stole the 2024 election.
But even more shocking were Palast’s statements during the Thom Hartmann podcast on Friday, January 23, insisting that Trump did steal the election.
“I used to be a professor of statistics, a forensics economist, so this is my specialty, the numbers, I’ve done this work for attorneys general and the US Dept of Justice,” he said.
And he has the numbers to prove that Trump stole it. His numbers come from the Elections Assistance Commission (EAC), an independent agency of the federal government created by the Help America Vote Act of 2002 to improve voting in the U.S.
According to the EAC, he said, 4,776,706 vote were “wrongly purged” from the voter rolls in the 2024 election.
Other methods used were denying mail-in votes because of questionable signatures, throwing out votes of those who missed the prior election and didn’t respond to correspondence asking them to confirm their address, and not counting provisional ballots.
According to Palast, if all the votes had been counted, Harris would’ve gotten 3,565,000 more votes and won Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Georgia and won the election with 286 electoral votes.
In addition, Palast shows that the vote suppression tactics target minority voters, a system he calls a “Jim Crow voting system.”
But better you go to his website where all the facts and figures and information documenting his decades of study is available. If anyone has the knowledge and credibility on the voting problems in America, it’s Palast.
He’s not just whistling Dixie; he’s exposing the crime of way down in the land of cotton where slavery refuses to be forgotten.

It also should make you wonder if Trump’s incessant lie about voting fraud in 2020 was the Big Lie that blundered into a successful ruse as cover for his plan to steal 2024. Yes, he surely is worthy of the name, Don the Con.
