WARREN COUNTY, OH -- Two school districts that have their taxing authority within Warren County's boarders are asking their residents for financial support.

FRANKLIN CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Franklin City School District has a PROPOSED INCOME TAX levy on the ballot asking its voters to approve an annual income tax of 1 per cent, for 10 years, on individuals who live within the school district's boarder.

"Unlike city taxes, you only pay school district income taxes based on where you live, not where you work," explains the Ohio Department of Taxation Website.

If passed the tax will go into effect beginning January 1, 2027, and will be used for the purpose of current expenses.

XENIA COMMUNITY CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Xenia Community City School  District has a PROPOSED TAX LEVY (RENEWAL) on the May 5th ballot. The tax renewal is for the purpose of constructing, renovations and improvements to school buildings and providing equipment and furnishings. The county auditor estimates the proposed renewal levy will collect $499,174 annually. The rate is not to exceed 1.3 mills for each $1 of taxable value. This amounts to $13 for each $100,000 of the county auditor's appraised value.

If renewed, it will be for 5 years, commencing in 2026, with payment being due in calendar year 2027.
