The Newly Constituted Cincinnati Coalition for Israel Held Its First Public Event
WARREN COUNTY, OH -- The newly constituted Cincinnati Coalition for Israel had its first public event where Orlando Sonza, running for the congressional seat in the first district, which encompasses all of Warren County, spoke.
The Cincinnati Coalition for Israel's op-ed in the American Israelite notes that Sonza spoke about the ongoing conflict in Israel and anti-semitism at home and abroad. In his talk, he told about his support for restoration of a much stronger Middle East policy, including restoration of economic pressure on Iran and no permanent ceasefire with Hamas until all hostages are returned. He also noted that the United States must continue to be a strong ally and provide all necessary military and material support to Israel in its battle against Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran.
Ron Maag, former member of the Ohio State Legislature, and attorney Ben Rodriquez, also both spoke at the coalition's first meeting. Rodriquez discussed a current bill proposed in Columbus to codify a legal definition of antisemitism and provide legal recourse for Ohio citizens and students experiencing personal anti-Semitic offenses. Senator Terry Johnson was the main sponsor of this bill. (To read bill click here)
The CCI plans to expand by recruiting more like-minded individuals supporting its mission, which entails advocating for the security and safety of Israel and address antisemitism and anti-zionism in Southwestern Ohio.
The CCI seeks to build a large interfaith coalition of friends sharing common Judeo-Christian values. For more information on CCI email CincinnatiCoalitionforisrael@gmail.com or call Darrell Radin at 513-276-6220.
