WARREN COUNTY, OH -- Want to run for a local office such as city council, board of education, township trustee or village council this coming November? There is still time to pull a petition, collect the signatures and turn it into the Warren County Board of Elections.

For the majority of the spots that are opened, the last day to file a petition for placement on the November 4, 2025 General Election Ballot is August 6, 2025, at 4 p.m., explained Brian Sleeth, Director of the Warren County, Ohio Board of Elections. (Middletown and the Charter Village of Waynesville both have until August 21, 2025 to file a petition.)

The Warren County Board of Elections website has two areas that can be clicked on to learn about...

  1.  People who have pulled a petition to run for a certain office.
  2.  A list of offices that are open, how many seats are open, how many signatures are needed and what form to use as well as the filing fee, which runs anywhere from:
    1. $45 for city council,
    2. $30 for village council, township trustee and school board.

To see what positions are open click here or visit : https://vote.warrencountyohio.gov/doc/CandIssues/Click_here_for_a_list_of_offices_on_the_November_4,_2025_ballot.pdf

To see who has pulled a petition and where they are in the process, such as valid, withdrew or pulled, click here or visit: https://lookup.boe.ohio.gov/vtrapp/warren/cfis.aspx

Once here at the "lookup," which is updated everyday after  4 P.M., a page opens asking a few questions before giving the list. The questions are:

  1. In the Select an Election click the down arrow and click 11/4/2025 General Election
  2. In Please Select A District Type click either All Officials to see all positions or click the area interested in such as, city or township or school district
  3. Keep all Candidate Party boxes marked so everyone who is running can be seen
  4. Keep all Candidate Validity boxes marked to see where the potential candidates are in filing their petitions.
  5. Report Type: to be seen on screen mark screen display (to print, click create a CSV File.)
  6. Click Display Ofiicials and the report is generated.

Warren County also has a PDF file on its website that explains and gives the rules of collecting signatures for a petition to run for office. It can be found by clicking here or visiting: https://vote.warrencountyohio.gov/doc/CandIssues/Rules_for_Circulating_Petitions.pdf
