OKTOBERFEST MONDAY EVERY WEEK: SCHMIDTS FOOD TRUCK IN LEBANON

LEBANON, OH -- Somehow it never seems fair that we only have Oktoberfests in Warren County ONLY in September and October every year. But that problem has now been solved with the advent of the SCHMIDT food truck now being parked at Lebanon's ACE HARDWARE located at 729 E. Main St. from 4-8 most Mondays.

Schmidt’s has been a tradition in Columbus, Ohio for over 130 years and is a tradition at all of the local Oktoberfests in the area with their food trucks. A new enterprise has been to move the trucks out to different areas during the rest of the year. The only one in Warren County, currently on a weekly basis, is in Lebanon. According to their catering office, they would love to get more trucks out here too!

The Schmidt specials include their trademarked "BAHAMA MAMA" Sausage, which is hickory smoked beef pork with mustard seed and paprika. ($9.00) with a platter including German Potato Salad and Sweet Red Cabbage ($14.00),  which is definitely budget friendly. Other sausage choices include the Pork Bratwurst, Chicken Bratwurst, Frankfurter, and Knockwurst. Also available are hot pretzels with cheese... and for dessert the traditional Cream Puff. During the winter months, they also sell potato soup.

The famous Schmidt's Cream Puff.

Schmidt’s began in Columbus, Ohio as a meatpacking business in 1886. As a concessionaire at the Ohio State Fair in 1914, Ohioans got the first taste of “real German sausage” and is today the oldest concessionaire at the Fair. The restaurant opened in 1967 around the corner from the meat packing plant in Columbus’ German Village. The menu began to evolve with more German traditional foods and desserts.

Today, you can enjoy many more varieties of Geman foods than hat the food truck offers at SCHMIDT’S in Columbus. However, if you have never had German cuisine, trying the sausage offerings on the food truck is a great start.
