WARREN COUNTY, OH -- The Hamilton County Auditor’s Office encourages property owners to be weary of fake videos and articles referencing a federal property tax freeze, Form 1098-SR, or a Federal Senior Homeowner Tax Review Request form. The entirely AI-generated, 30-minute video is circulating online in various formats, asking older homeowners to contact their county auditor for a “Federal Senior Homeowner Tax Review Request” form.

“I have heard from my colleagues across the state that they too are receiving an influx of calls” said Hamilton County Auditor Jessica E. Miranda. “My team and I are at-the-ready to look into your tax relief eligibility, but this form does not exist, and the video is entirely false. Please continue to report the video as misinformation.”

County Auditors administer tax relief programs as instructed by the State. The only relief program that provides target relief to older Ohioans is the Homestead Exemption, which is available on their primary residence if they meet the following criteria: they are at least 65 years of age and have a 2025 gross income less than $41,000 (not including social security).

Auditor Miranda urges property owners to vet where they receive their news coverage.
