Although Christmas Day has passed, there are still a few more days left, where desserts and fun foods can still be eaten before that famous New Year's Resolution starts of "eating healthy to lose a few pounds" begins. 

Thus, while you still have time, this very tasty dessert has been shared for you to try before 2024 ends and 2025 begins....

“Death By Chocolate”

Brownie Ingredients:

3 cups white sugar

1 cup butter (melted)

1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract (or 2 teaspoons of Vanilla Extract and Almond Extract each)

4 eggs

1 ½ cups of All Purpose Flour

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Mixing and Cooking Ingredients:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 9 X 13-inch baking dish.
  2. Bowl #1: Combine sugar, melted butter, and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat in eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Blend thoroughly.
  3. Bowl #2: Sift flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually stir flour mixture into egg mixture until blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Spread batter evenly into prepared baking dish.
  4. Bake in pre-heated oven until top is dry and edges have started to pull away from sides of baking pan, about 35 – 40 minutes. Let cool completely before slicing into 24 squares.

Additional Ingredients:

  • 2 Boxes Chocolate Mousse Mix (If you do not have Mousse, mix one-half small box of Chocolate Pudding and one-half tub Cool Whip).
  • 2 Small Tubs Cool Whip
  • 1 Bag Heath Bar Crumbles
  • Kahlua (three-fourths cup, or to taste)

Layering Ingredients:

  1. Break up half the brownies and layer in the 9 X 13-inch baking pan or Trifle Bowl.
  2. Drizzle one fourth of Kahula over brownies.
  3. Layer with mousse.
  4. Layer with cool whip.
  5. Sprinkle half the Heath Crumbles.
  6. Repeat layering.
  7. Chill three hours ahead of serving or make a day ahead to allow flavors to mix.
