Turn Your Passion Into a Class: ILR Looking for Volunteer Instructors

Image

The Institute for Learning in Retirement is looking for people willing to share their professions, hobbies, passions and interests with area seniors during its spring 2027 semester.

ILR offers classes twice each year, in the spring and fall. Courses typically meet once a week for five to six weeks, with each session lasting about 75 minutes. Instructors also have the flexibility to offer shorter courses or even a single-session class.

Classes may be taught online, in a hybrid format or in person in Oxford, West Chester, Monroe and Hamilton.

ILR instructors serve as volunteers, but those who teach for three or more weeks receive a complimentary membership for the semester they teach. The membership allows instructors to enroll in as many ILR courses as they wish during that semester.

And unlike traditional classrooms, ILR courses come with no grades, tests or homework.

Anyone with knowledge, experience or an interest they would enjoy sharing with older adults is encouraged to consider submitting a course proposal.

The deadline to submit a course proposal for the spring 2027 semester is Nov. 30, 2026.

More information is available through the Institute for Learning in Retirement website.
