MIDDLETOWN, OH --  Atrium Medical Center will host its third annual Community Baby Shower on Saturday, April 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Robert “Sonny” Hill Jr. Community Center, 800 Lafayette Ave., Middletown.

Held during Black Maternal Health Week, the event brings together celebration, support, and maternal health resources to help families begin their parenting journeys with confidence. Open to any expectant mother or mother with an infant under one year old, the free Community Baby Shower features baby gifts, raffles, a photo booth, lunch, and opportunities to meet with doctors, doulas, and lactation consultants.

Attendees will also learn about local programs that help families overcome challenges that can impact pregnancy and early parenting. “By connecting families to trusted resources, culturally informed care, and programs that truly meet their needs, we’re helping more babies in our community start life healthy and strong,” said Mary LeVan, manager of Atrium’s Maternal Health Center.

This year’s event highlights Atrium’s Centering Pregnancy® program, an innovative model of prenatal care that brings five to seven women with similar due dates together throughout their pregnancies.

“Providing care in this group setting allows moms and providers to relax, open up, and build much deeper relationships,” LeVan said. “The friendships and support networks that develop in Centering Pregnancy often continue long after delivery. It’s a powerful reminder that maternal health isn’t just medical. It’s emotional, social, and community driven.”

Centering Pregnancy sessions combine traditional prenatal check-ups with education and peer support. Moms receive more time with their care team, participate in guided conversations, and learn from one another’s experiences in a welcoming environment.

“Programs like Centering Pregnancy help women feel heard, supported, and prepared. That support is exactly what our Community Baby Shower celebrates,” LeVan said.

Black Maternal Health Week, recognized annually across the United States, draws attention to the persistent disparities in maternal health outcomes.

Participants are encouraged to RSVP online at AMCBabyShower.GiveSmart.com to reduce wait times. Walk-ins are welcome, with separate check-in lines for registered and unregistered attendees.

The Community Baby Shower is hosted by Atrium Medical Center’s Maternal Health Center in partnership with the Partners in Reducing Infant Mortality Program of the Butler County Educational Service Center, Atrium Medical Center Foundation, Middletown Community Foundation, and Kiwanis Club of Middletown.
