There’s Music at Heroes!

Scott Hall – Hall Around Town Radio

I had the opportunity last Friday night to visit a local favorite, Heroes Pizza House located at 92 Edgebrooke Drive in Springboro. The owners Michael and Melissa Curry Buehler provide a fun, family friendly atmosphere that features an extensive menu of favorites such as appetizer items, wings, sandwiches and of course pizza with all the toppings. (try the cheeseburger pizza… it reminded me of a Big Boy and was really tasty) However, at Heroes, there is also one very unique topping that the Buehler’s have added that separates them from your common pizza parlor and that is live local music!

On this particular outing, I had the pleasure to listen to a new collaborative country duo, Heath Bowling and Cevin West. Now I’ve heard them both solo many times in the past but there was something magical about this evening.  Putting the two of them together just seemed to click, the crowd was very responsive as they traded songs back and forth and backed each other up with their guitars and vocal harmonies.

The duo boasts a fun-loving vibe, evident in their performance Friday night. Looking to create a party atmosphere, Cevin and Heath welcomed audience members to throw out requests and actively participate in singing along with them.

Heath Bowling is known around town for his signature “sad country” songbook but on this night I heard a different style for him. Brining newer songs to the stage and switching genres several times to the likes of Pearl Jam and Prince.

Cevin West is one of those voices that you will never forget. The first time I ever heard him play was in a battle of the bands competition I was hosting. From the first note he had me captured and since then I’ve heard so many people say the same thing I did “How does that voice come out of that kid”? Besides his unique voice, Cevin is a very polite and humble kind of artist who loves to get around on a break and meet those listening to him.

Bowling and West interacted with the crowd throughout this fun night, telling stories, jokes and both worked hard to get crowd members involved between their list of covers from artists such as Travis Tritt, Tyler Childers, Garth, Waylon, Brooks and Dunn and even the Violent Femmes. Any energy the duo put out was given back to them by the interactive crowd, who were all enjoying a night of good music along with the great food at Heroes Pizza House.

You can follow Heroes Pizza House on Facebook for a variety of specials and their weekly music schedule.
