Springboro Schools Teachers and Staff To Receive COVID-19 Vaccine Friday

Springboro, OH --- Springboro Schools’ teachers and staff are scheduled to receive the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine tomorrow, Friday, February 19, 2021. The Pfizer vaccine will be administered by Passport Health at Springboro High School (1675 S. Main St. – Springboro, OH 45066) from 8:00am – 4:00pm. Passport Health is the same provider that administers the district’s staff flu shots. Friday, February 19 will serve as a remote day for students in all grade levels (PreK – 12).

Teachers and staff of Springboro Schools were provided the opportunity to voluntarily sign up to receive the vaccine. More than five hundred (500) employees of Springboro Schools elected to receive the vaccine, and are scheduled to be administered their first dose tomorrow inside the Commons Area at Springboro High School. The District Nurse and all school building nurses will be on hand, along with several district staff members, to assist Passport Health during the day.

“This is great news,” said Superintendent Larry Hook. As a district that has remained in person all school year (with a remote option available to those in need), we are excited to begin receiving the COVID-19 vaccine for our teachers and staff. Thank you to the Springboro community for their cooperation, patience, and hard work as we continue to educate our students during this challenging school year.”

The district’s second dose, for the COVID-19 vaccine, is tentatively scheduled for Friday, March 12. The day of the second dose would also be a remote day for all grade levels (PreK- 12), however Friday, March 12 is already scheduled as a teacher workday. Students were already scheduled to not be in school on Friday, March 12. Once the district is confirmed for this date, this will be communicated to the general public.
