CARLISLE, OH --All Carlisle Staff members were invited to Camp Chautauqua for a team building/bonding in-service day  on September 22. The event was paid for partially through a wellness grant that the district school nurses applied for through EPC. The remaining fees were paid for by the district administration.

While secondary staff members attended in the morning and the elementary staff attended in the afternoon, all staff came together for a combined lunch were prizes were raffled off. The prizes were donated by Church in the Village, Valley Real Estate, Fizzy Sips and Sweet, Vinnie and Velvet, Jessica Chaney (freshies), Angela Glover (pink zebra) and Portraits by Tiffani.

The event included 5 stations:

  • Zip line
  • 3 island challenge
  • Mohawk Traverse
  • Pin blast and
  • Nitro crossing.

All events were participation by choice, but all members were encouraged to be engaged in the activities regardless if they physically wanted to participate. The events focused on communication, teamwork, strategy development, leadership skills, and listening to each other.

Staff members were randomly assigned into groups. This gave them the opportunity to get to know other staff members that they might not normally get a chance to engage with.

The day was very successful. Not only did staff members spend time getting to know each other, they are able to laugh and even conquer some fears together through zip lining. Several staff members mentioned it was something they always wanted to do, but were afraid to due to their fear of heights. But with help of coworkers, they were able to overcome their fear and had a great time!

The event was great for team bonding and building as teams were able to celebrate victories together. It was also great for staff moral. Many staff are hoping to have more events like this during PD days.
