CARLISLE, Ohio -- Kaylee Lawson achieved what many high school basketball players dream of... making that 1000 point career shot. Lawson fulfilled that dream January 29, 2022 when Carlisle played against Middletown Madison.

She is the first female to enter the 1000 point club in 15 years noted Carlisle Athletic Director John Augustine.

"I have nothing but great things to say about this young lady. I have had the pleasure of coaching her for 4 years now. She is one of the most genuine, hard-working, and sweetest girls, I have coached," said Carlisle's Head Varsity Coach Tony Phillips.

Lawson added to her point total this past Saturday, leading the Indians to a first game sectional tourney upset over 20-2 Bethel (Tipp City).

"Her constant drive to get better is second to none. She is a person that you model your program around. She has led our program from mediocrity, to two sectional final appearances and a district final appearance. Her leadership is another quality that just jumps out at you. She leads by example on and off the court. You don’t replace someone like her, as a player... or a person. It’s going to be weird next year not having her around," Phillips added.

Lawson, who has been on the varsity basketball team all four years of her high school career, is also well known for her soccer and softball skills as well.

"She's just an all around great athlete and person," said her assistant basketball and varsity head soccer coach Craig Harris.

Throughout her athletic career as a high school student, Lawson has been named on the SWBL 1st Team for all three sports she played for Carlisle.

"This really is a big achievement," explained Harris, who noted that if his memory serves him right, Carlisle has only had 15 players in its basketball history...including both male and female players... to do this.

While Lawson excels in basketball and soccer, back in November of 2021, she signed a letter of intent to play Division 1 softball for the University of Evansville... another sport in which she excels.
