ARMCO PARK WARREN COUNTY, OH -- Kids of all ages enjoyed free fishing during Friends of Warren County Park District's (FWCPD) Tech Free Tuesday program yesterday at the county's Armco Park Lake.
Created to get the kids “free” from technology one day a week and enjoy the outdoors, Warren County Park District's Shannon Pennington, along with volunteers from FWCPD, spent the morning baiting hooks and sharing their skills on catch and release.
For many of the youngsters this was there first time fishing.
Along with fishing activity, the days program included a craft table and a storybook trail with author Bill Schroeder, who read from his book “Smallmouth Sonny of Bass Island Bar.”
The book, published by the Little Miami Conservancy District, features wildlife that can be found along the Little Miami River.
Next week Tech Free Tuesday will be held at Landen-Deerfield Township Park, where a butterfly release will happen. "This will be the last Tech Free at Landen -Deerfield for the year," said Pennington.
There is still one more Tech Free Tuesday at Armco on Aug. 23. Melissa Proffitt from Warren County’s Soil and Water District will be creating a fun day with soil sleuths.
Programs start at 10:30 and run until noon. Children need to be accompanied by an adult. To check out more park programs visit FWCPD.com.
