Local Warren County Students Receive Scholarships from Ohio Natural Gas and Oil Industry
WARREN COUNTY, OHIO -- Two Warren County students were recipients of The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP) and The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Foundation (OOGEEF) $1,000 scholarships.
Justin Davis of Lebanon and Chelsey Zugaro of South Lebanon were chosen along with 3o other students who were awarded a scholarship.
To qualify, a student needs to be pursuing a career in the natural gas and oil industry, complete the application process and be an Ohio resident or plan to attend an accredited Ohio institution of higher education.
The recipients are screened to ensure they possess the skills and credentials needed to obtain an education that will support a fulfilling career in the natural gas and oil industry, through essay writing, academic achievements, letters of recommendation, career choice and other special recognitions.
Scholarships are then awarded to students interested in obtaining training certifications and associates or bachelors degrees in relevant fields of study.
The $1,000 annual scholarship may be renewed with a total of four years of potential eligibility.
Chelsea, who is a junior starting this fall, is studying Marketing & Operations Management and minoring in Business Analytics at the University of Cincinnati.
Justin, who is also attending the University of Cincinnati, is a freshmen this fall. He is studying Chemical Engineering.
This year's recipients come from 22 of Ohio's 88 counties, 15 institutions of higher education, and cover 20 different majors.
Since 2007, Ohio’s natural gas and oil industry has awarded 599 scholarships to 342 students totaling $599,000.
“The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Foundation has helped hundreds of Ohioans pursue trade programs and higher education,” said George Brown, Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program executive director. “These scholarship recipients are a prominent group of students, and we are excited to see the contributions they will make to the industry and our state.”

The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP) is a non-profit statewide education and public outreach program. Created in 1998, OOGEEP provides a variety of programs throughout the State of Ohio on behalf of Ohio’s natural gas and crude oil producers.
