Similar to what newspapers in the 19th Century did the www.warrencountypost.com. will publish a chapter a day from the book Deceptions in the Air. This fictional book is a blend of reality and conspiracy with a mix of Biblical Prophecy. My hope is that you enjoy the story, while it puts a desire in your heart to seek Truth.

Chapter 3: The Letter

"Bri," said Jack bringing her back to the present. “Let’s head to the car. It looks like a storm is coming in.”

As Bri felt the wind become stronger and the already night sky grow darker, she watched as the moon took cover behind the dark storm clouds. She began thinking of how her life had been such a storm. How every time she would begin to see or feel any type of happiness, a dark cloud would roll in and completely destroy that chance. Especially, when it would have anything to do with love — the unique and special love that she and Alex had held. A love that no one could understand… not even Bri.

Bri again closed her eyes as the wind grew stronger causing the sand to sting her face. The sting reminded her of how her heart was feeling. As Jack took her by the hand to lead her, Bri’s mind wondered back to that day she had gotten her first package from Alex. It was the day she and her family arrived home from the beach.

“It’s from Alex,” she yelled running up her driveway from the mailbox. “He already sent me something.”

Because Alex had left the beach two days prior to Bri’s departure, he had time to have a package waiting for her when she arrived home. Inside was a 14-page letter with pictures. Bri read the letter over and over and carried the photo of him with her where ever she went.

For a couple years, the two kept in close contact even though neither had the resources to see each other. Then one day, Bri decided to mail a very special letter to Alex. A letter she knew would either draw them closer or send him running far away.

“Probably never hear from him again,” Bri said to God quietly as she placed the little tract about salvation into the letter. Slowly she sealed the envelope shut and gently placed the stamp on the upper right side.

“God,” she whispered, “I love you more than anything... and if this means having to say goodbye to Alex, I guess I have to accept it. But if I may be so bold to ask, please let him believe too.”

While hoping within her heart that something good would come from the letter, Bri knew the chance she was taking could mean goodbye forever. Slowly Brianne opened her hand to let the letter drop into the mailbox. Even as a young girl, Bri’s relationship with God and His plan for mankind’s salvation was the most important thing in her life. And she knew in her heart, the man that she was to love needed to love God as she did… if not more.

Days, weeks, then months went by. Bri never heard back from Alex.

“I hope you’re happy!” Bri sarcastically said to God even though she knew one was not to show irreverence to the Almighty. “I might as well tell you how I am feeling. You know it anyway.”

She began to cry as that feeling of emptiness began to make the void inside her grow a little larger. After many tearful nights, she finally came to the conclusion Alex was gone. But one day in her sophomore year of college, Bri received a letter from Georgia. It was Alex apologizing for not keeping in touch.

Bri,

I am so sorry I never wrote you… I don’t know why I didn’t. That letter was the best thing you ever sent me. I said the prayer. I’m a believer too!

Alex's 24-page letter ended with a pleading request for Bri to call him — collect.

Bri called that evening, and the two talked for hours... as if no time had passed. And this time, their connection was even stronger. Not only were they connecting emotionally, but they were connecting spiritually.

Alex had a plan. He asked Bri to be his date to Carson’s wedding. Without any hesitation, Bri said yes... giving Alex the initiative to start saving his money so that he could purchase Brianne a bus ticket to Georgia for the special day.
