Similar to what newspapers in the 19th Century did the www.warrencountypost.com. will publish a chapter a day from the book Deceptions in the Air. This fictional book is a blend of reality and conspiracy with a mix of Biblical Prophecy. My hope is that you enjoy the story, while it puts a desire in your heart to seek Truth.
Chapter 32: The Earlier Evening
Bri turned and looked out the back window staring at the car that seemed to be following them.
As she watched, her mind journeyed back to the evening’s earlier events at the church were Alex had proposed to her.

“I know this might sound a little crazy, but I know your belief is like mine… sex belongs in marriage. And I know both of us haven’t followed that exactly, but we have with each other. I want to continue that. The problem is — I don’t think I can spend another evening knowing you're right next to me,” Alex stopped in mid thought as he realized he wasn’t making sense. “Let me put it differently.”
He began to stutter even more as he looked at Bri, who was nervously giggling like a teenage girl.
“Alex, if we’re going to get married...,” she began, but was stopped by Alex as he gently placed his finger on her lips to quiet her.
“No. Let me finish. We should be able to talk about this. We are grown adults… let’s face it, I desire you like any normal man would desire the woman he loves. But, I want it to behonorable ... because I love you more than I can even explain. So...,” he stopped and lifted his finger from her lips. "I would like us to marry this evening."
Bri didn’t say anything. She sat there staring at Alex wondering if she was in some kind of crazy dream that she couldn’t shake.
"I have already asked my friend, who is the mayor here, if he would be free to do this... This evening.”
Bri still did not say anything.
“Bri? What are you thinking?"
Bri still did not speak.
"We can hold the ceremony this evening so we can be together tonight...under God’s blessing. Later, we could have a celebration involving the family. It’s something we can work on together as I’m finishing up this project, and you’re back at home in Michigan. I love Michigan. I don’t mind making my permanent home in Michigan, as long as I am with you… that’s all I want."
Bri just smiled as Alex talked.
"You’ve talked about wanting to run a little Internet coffee shop on one of Lake Michigan’s beaches. I love Traverse City or South Haven. I would love to do that with you.”
Finally, Bri spoke. “Wow, tonight? But what about my kids, Rachel and Sam? What would they think? You guys haven’t even met. What if you don’t get along?”
“Excellent question, Bri. I had the same concern. What if your kids hate me, and we don't marry. Are you going to ask me to leave your life?”
“My kids wouldn’t hate you. They would be happy that I’m happy, so they would never ask me to give you up. But, shouldn’t we give them time to get to know you?”
“Bri, I don’t think I have the will power to keep being around you and not … and I am sorry, I don’t want you to take this wrong… I really, really desire you. Bri I have desired you for years, and the more I’m around you, the more I want you. I can’t keep doing this. I’m human,” Alex said, holding on to Bri’s hands looking intensely into her eyes.
“Wow, Alex, this is a lot. First of all, there is no way my kids would hate you. You are one of the nicest, kindest, sweetest men I know. They will, however, have a hard time letting you replace Jack in their lives.”
“I don’t want them to give up Jack. I know Jack is important to them... and to you. The good thing about Jack for me is that he can’t meet the needs or doesn’t desire to meet the needs you have as a woman. I can and do want to meet those needs, and I’m really tired of taking cold showers,” Alex smiled with a little laugh.
“Are you sure I’m not dreaming? This is actually happening. I am standing here next to the man I’ve loved at first site... and he is asking me to be his wife?”
“No. You’re not dreaming. This is real, so please don’t pinch me again okay,” Alex said, as he embraced Bri into his arms and sealed his love to her with a kiss that is only felt by those whose souls intertwine to become as one.
“So, when do I become Mrs. Alex K. Jones?” Bri asked, pulling gently away from his soft lips.
“Well, first, we have to go get the marriage license. Then, stop by the mayors office to confirm our plans and go check in at our hotel,” he said.
The next two hours flew by as Bri and Alex got everything together for their wedding on the beach, including a stop at a local dress shop where Bri found a casual yet elegant white sundress to wear.
Upon arrival at the hotel Alex checked them in. “Reservations for Alex and Brianna Jones,” Alex said to the desk clerk then turning and smiling at Bri.
Bri was still having a hard time believing all this was happening. Thoughts began to run out of control until she derived a plan...
Will anybody believe me since no one I know is even here? But I will have the license to prove it… My bracelet that Russ gave me. I’ll record the ceremony so we can have something for a keepsake. It will be my surprise gift to Alex and for the world to see that love still exist!
The two had about a half-hour to get ready before the mayor and his wife showed up to perform the ceremony. Bri dug in her purse to find the box that Russ had given her. Inside was a beautiful silver bracelet with a recording camera. Bri placed it around her wrist.
“It blends right in, and now we have a photographer," she said looking at her reflection in the mirror.
“Wow! You are beautiful," Alex said as Bri walked out of the bedroom dressed in the white on white floral sun dress. “Steve called. He and Maureen are in the lobby waiting. Are you ready?”
Bri had been ready for this over half her life.
“You know after we do this, you can’t leave me for years at a time,” Bri said with her flirtatious smile.
“The same goes for you, too.”
Walking towards Bri, Alex wrapped his arms around her then whispered into her ear, “soon, you’ll be mine.”
Then, giving her a kiss that had her melting in his arms, he whispered in her other ear. “Want to have the honeymoon first?”
“Okay,” she said, pulling away from the temptation. “Let’s go get married.”
“Hey, I was just giving a suggestion,” he said innocently as he grabbed the ring boxes and the door key.
As Bri walked towards the door she turned to see Alex standing and just staring at her.
“What are you thinking?”
Alex laughed. “I can’t believe I’m marrying the woman who tried killing me out in the ocean with my own surfboard!”
Bri flashed Alex a smile with a twinkle in her eye. “I’ll help you with your memory later on tonight!”
