LEBANON, OH -- Warren County Park District along with Friends of Warren County Park District will be holding three separate spring hikes.

Forest Nature Hike - Sat., 3/23/24 @ 10:30 a.m.

Our March 23rd Forest Nature Hike venue has changed to Hisey Park. Gulley Park right now is very wet and at some points in the trail, the water level is above ankle height. As this is a slow draining area, we don’t see these conditions dramatically improving over the next couple of weeks. We believe in “Leave no trace” principles, which means that we stay on the trail to prevent damage to the surroundings. Additionally, this does not make for a fun hike; especially this time of the year when the water can be cold. We plan on doing a hike at Gulley later in the summer or early fall when it is typically dryer.

Hisey park is located at 5443 Middletown Rd, Waynesville, OH. Don’t worry, Hisey Park has plenty of trees to learn about. And we have a chance of seeing some spring wildflowers if the temperatures stay warm.

We are sorry for any inconvenient this might cause.

Spring Wildflower Hike - Sat., 4/27/24 @ 10:30 a.m.

By this time, early spring wildflowers will be in full bloom and more will be starting to show. We will hike grassy fields and woodlands in search of signs of early wildflowers. At the end of our discovery process, participants can join in on the 3-mile trek as we hike all the trails at this beautiful park.

This historic farm property was purchased from the Hisey Estate through the Clean Ohio Grant Fund Program and dedicated in 2005. Hisey Park is located 7 miles east of Lebanon and 8 miles northwest of I-71. It is in Wayne Township – at the corner of Corwin and Middletown Road, 2 miles south of the Village of Waynesville.

Wildflower & Geology Hike - Sat., 5/18/24 @ 10:30 a.m.

Different wildflowers will now be blooming at Hisey Park. We will hike grassy fields and woodlands in search of signs of wildflowers. At the end of our discovery process, participants can join in on the 3-mile trek as we hike all the trails at this beautiful park.

Dress for the weather and bring water and camera's are always welcomed. Hikes are predicated to last around 1.5-2 hours, but you are welcome to stay as long as you’d like. You may attend all three or just one or two! Register at tinyurl.com/WCPD2024SpringHikes.
