Similar to what newspapers in the 19th Century did the www.warrencountypost.com. will publish a chapter a day from the book Deceptions in the Air. This fictional book is a blend of reality and conspiracy with a mix of Biblical Prophecy. My hope is that you enjoy the story, while it puts a desire in your heart to seek Truth.

Chapter 45: The Face Off with Evil

As Alex started to leave from the hotel, he turned and looked at the beach. The waves roared into shore as a soft wind filled his senses with the salt air. His thoughts took him back to a few hours earlier, when he and Bri were standing on the white sand... hand in hand with her hair dancing in the breeze as her beautiful smile melted his heart.

He closed his eyes trying to remember her tender kiss and soft touch. Slowly, he opened his eyes and looked up at the sky and quietly said to God, “A man can dream.”

As he was loading his bags into the car, he jumped as he felt a hand on his shoulder.

“Robert?” Alex said, turning to look at the senator. “What are you doing here?”

“Did she ever come back?” the senator asked.

“What?” Jack asked rather startled.

“Did your new bride ever return?” he said acting as though he were concerned.

Alex looked at the senator trying to think of a way to give him and Bri more time.

“Robert, why are you so concerned about my well-being? She’ll be back.”

“How do you know that?” Senator Donovan asked.

Alex laughed. Pulling her phone out of her suitcase.

“She not only left her bag... she forgot her phone. And, what woman do you know who can go for more than 24-hours without her phone?”

“Ah,” the senator said looking at Alex rather oddly. “So, aren’t you worried about her where-abouts?”

“No. She’s probably with Jack. She doesn’t go anywhere without him,” Alex said continuing to load the bags in his car before shutting the trunk and turning to face the senator again.

“Jack?” the senator asked rather confused.

“Yeah, he’s her best friend. He came to celebrate our big day with us,” Alex said, adding, “he’s gay.”

“So that’s who she was with,” the senator said softly to himself.

“What? You saw her?”

“Ah, no. Frankie and Denny saw her at a coffee house. They said they witnessed some woman who fit her description, but she was screaming at some poor man about getting a flight to go home to Michigan,” he explained.

“Robert, why were Frankie and Denny looking for Bri?”

“I was concerned for you, Alex,” the senator said placing his right hand on Alex’s left shoulder. “I wanted to find her for you. It was your wedding night, and your bride had left you… alone. But, I didn’t think it was her. It didn’t sound like a broken bride’s description. It sounded like some poor man being beaten up by a B of a wife.”

“Robert, they didn’t do anything to her, did they?”

“No, no,” the senator said dismissively. “Since the woman they had found was with another man, I told them this was the wrong lady. They quit following them.”

“Robert, please let me talk to her first,” Alex pleaded. “I’m flying back to DC now where I can grab some personal things and head up to her place in Michigan. All I need is about 48- hours. I will have her eating out of the palm of my hand… don’t worry. I know her. She’s all about peace, too. And Robert, remember this project is like my child… I will not let any woman destroy my child.”

While Alex was saying this out loud to the senator, he was praying silently to God to please forgive him for lying.

“Alex, I really don’t think you should be driving anywhere right now. You seem very upset,” Robert said holding his hand out for Alex to give him the car keys.

“What?” Alex said pulling his hand away from the senator. “Robert, look I just want to head up to Michigan and get the air cleared with Bri. We have a lot we need to discuss and having you getting into the mix will not help the situation. Please, just move out of my way and let me go.”

As Alex was talking, the sun became hidden behind a dark cloud as a cool breeze began to stir.

“See Alex? See how angry you are. All I’m trying to do is help you... and you’re fighting me,” said the strange voice that Alex had heard the night before coming out of Robert’s body.

Alex looked into the Senator’s eyes, and when he did, he felt the same coldness and empty void that penetrated his inner soul as he did the night before. A chill swept through his body. What was this thing that would overtake the senator? As the senator continued to talk, Alex became frozen, it was as if he were losing control of his ability to move or even think.

“Alex, my son, just give me your keys, and we will get you back up in the room... where you can rest and calm down. And, while you are resting, we will find your bride for you,” the strange deep voice from the senator’s body said, with an eerie calmness.

Alex started to hand the keys over to the senator as the voice was bidding him to do. But as he was doing this, Alex heard a voice within him say, “Alex, my child, call upon the name of Jesus!”

Alex continued to stand there as if frozen in time unable to move or speak.
