Similar to what newspapers in the 19th Century did the www.warrencountypost.com. will publish a chapter a day from the book Deceptions in the Air. This fictional book is a blend of reality and conspiracy with a mix of Biblical Prophecy. My hope is that you enjoy the story, while it puts a desire in your heart to seek Truth.

Chapter 59: The Finalized Plan

Russ opened the door for Bri and the doctor to come back into the room.

As they were entering, Bri noticed Jack nodding his head toward Alex and mouthing, “Weirdo the Science Guy.” In return, she gave Jack a stern look lipping with wide eyes... "Stop it!"

“Okay, Dr. LeClaire, I think it would be a good idea if we let them use your phone. The senator and his people are probably tracking them on Jack’s phone by now. It might take them a while to put your phone in as part of our little team,” Russ suggested.

Handing Bri her phone, Dr. LeClaire explained, “I have Russ's number and my on-call cell number listed here in emergency numbers... if you need to reach either one of us... or even Alex."

Russ, then, turned and pointed to the slip of paper Jack was holding. “Jack has the codes on this important piece paper that he needs to use to get into Alex’s condo and his computer system.”

Alex interrupted Russ to give them more detail on how to override the finger scans that first appear on both his condo door lock and his computer screen.

“Just ignore the finger screen at my door. Put this code into the keypad,” he said pointing to the code on the paper in Jack’s hand, adding, "It's my computer that will be tricky."

Alex explained that when the computer screen asks for his finger to be scanned, there is a time lapse of about 15 seconds before it will give an option to put in a code.

"Once you put in the code, you will have to wait for a few seconds before it will ask you to answer two security questions. Answer the first question with the answer 'yesterday' and hit enter. When the second question comes up, just hit the delete button.”

“Why?” Jack asked.

“If you don't hit delete, the port will open for the created holograms. You do not want that opened,” Alex said.

“Why?” Bri asked.

“You just don’t need it... more work... Once you've done that, you should be in the system. In the search tab, type in this first code,” Alex explained.

“What do I do with these other codes?" Jack asked.

"The system is made to just start typing in these codes one at a time... on what looks like a blank screen. After each one is typed in, it’s important that you hit enter and wait for the page to clear blank,” Alex said explaining further.

While Jack stared at the paper, Bri stared at Jack to see if she could tell if he was understanding the important steps.

“Once you put the last code in and hit enter, a clock will appear. It will have a box where you need to put in a time amount. Put in '30 minutes'... this should give you time to get out,” Alex finished.

“Get out? Get out of what?” Bri asked, now looking at Alex.

“The main system that the senator is networked into does not get a warning until the last ten minutes. This is when he will be alerted that the project has been aborted. I’m sure the senator and his people are already on high alert. Once they see this message, they will trace where it came from to catch the hacker,” Alex answered.

“So, this gives us 20 minutes to get out of the system?” Bri said trying to get some clarification.

“Sort of... not only do you need out of the system, but you need to be out of my condo... out of sight really... They may even have people surrounding my condo now... I’m hoping they think I’m on my way to Michigan in search of you, Bri. But, once they see this message, it will alert them to my condo,” Alex added.

“Is that it then? We put in the codes and get out?” Jack asked.

“No... You will need to get into the back of the computer and take out the motherboard and destroy it. This way, if they capture you, the project is still destroyed," Alex answered, slowly adding, "The holograms will have been aborted... as if they never existed.”

“How do we destroy the motherboard?” Jack asked Alex, before turning to Bri and mouthing, "He's so weird!"

“Cut it up, beat it up, smash it with a hammer, flush it down the toilet, run magnets all over it, take it to a subway and leave it on the train track. Just destroy it,” Russ interjected.

“How much danger are we in? I mean...,” Bri swallowed... not believing the question she was about to ask... and really not wanting to hear the answer. “I mean, are there people who would really try killing us to keep us from stopping the project? Wouldn't it be easier to arrest us and put us in jail?"

“My friend Dr. Kincaide was found dead in his home a few weeks ago. So, I think the answer is most definitely... yes,” Alex said.

“You knew Dr. Kincaide? I did an interview with him...” Bri started.

“He knows. He also knows Dr. Wilson. They played golf together with Senator Donovan,” Russ interrupted.

Alex turned and looked at Bri. He didn’t say anything at first, then he softly said, “Bri, I don’t think I would have ever been able to kill you over Project Blue Beam, but a few days ago... I would have done whatever was necessary to keep this project safe… so... again... yes.

“Well babe,” Jack said smacking Bri on the back. “You’re love for Weirdo the Science Guy got me into this mess, so if I’m going down, you’re going down with me!”

“Great words of encouragement Jack,” Brianna snarled.

“Why does he keep calling me that?” Alex asked.

“Because you are a science guy... and you are definitely weird... So, whose car are we taking?” Jack asked quickly to change the subject off of the idea that people want him and Bri dead.

“You can take mine,” Michelle said handing Jack her keys.

Bri and Jack headed for the door. Before stepping out, Bri turned and looked back at Alex and smiled. “Now I know why my mom told me not to fall for a surfer dude.”

Alex smiled back. Trying to grasp the humor that Jack and Bri so often used with each other, he added, with an air of uncertainty, “but your life would have been so boring?”

Closing the door behind them, Bri quietly said, “he’s trying.”

“Yeah, but face it Bri, you have married one weird dude,” Jack said.

“Hey you two,” Russ hollered, catching up with them outside.

“Take this,” he said handing Jack a small pistol. “You never know what kind of danger you might confront.”

“Are you serious?” Jack asked in complete shock. “I’ve never shot a gun!”

“Hopefully you never will,” Russ said. “We have many people praying for you, and there is nothing more powerful than prayer. At first, I wasn’t going to give it to you. But for my own sake or peace of mind, I want to know I gave you something to protect yourself… or maybe it’s my lack of faith. I’m human.”

“Well, I look at this way,” Jack said, as he and Bri climbed into the car. “No matter what we do, our world is changing. We can either sit back and be destroyed... or we can try to stop it and be destroyed. Or, who knows… we might be super heroes!"
