FRANKLIN, OH -- The Harding Museum in Franklin is opening its doors for a Hometown Holiday event. On December 14, 2024 from noon to 6 PM, the Franklin Area Historical Society will host:
- Children's crafts,
- Live music,
- Santa from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.,
- A raffle basket from A Country Peddler,
- Refreshments, and
- An ugly holiday sweater display.
Both floors of the museum have been decorated and illuminated using the Hometown Holiday theme, which includes many handmade items. Building upon the event's theme of a Hometown Holiday is the idea to shop local.
"The museum gift shop makes it easy to shop local by featuring ten area artists and craftspersons who are offering a wide variety of items... (such as) pottery, wood items, jewelry, primitives, candles, wreaths, florals and more," noted Peggy Darragh-Jeromos, the FHS's President.
Darragh-Jeremos also noted, "the museum gift shop also carries items related to Franklin and Franklin history including books, ornaments, Wildcat tumblers, prints and more."
During the Hometown Holiday event, the Society will be collecting NEW, colorful, small and medium children's socks that can be worn with gym shoes.
"During December, the Society is requesting Socks for Santa," Darragh-Jeremos noted, explaining that the socks will be donated to Shoes 4 the Shoeless, a Dayton-based non-profit that provides students all over SW Ohio with new shoes and socks.
"This event is a good time to drop off the socks and stay for the fun," Darragh-Jeremos added.
The Harding Museum is located at 302 Park Ave., Franklin. Those with questions may call (937) 746-8295. Event sponsors are Michael Estepp Continuous Gutter LLC; Ruppert Law Office; and Edward Jones -- Josh Myers.
