School Issues 50/50 In Warren County

WARREN COUNTY, OH -- Two of the 17 school districts within Warren County had issues on yesterday's ballot (May 5, 2026).:  Franklin City Schools and Xenia Community City School District.

The uncertified count shows: 

Xenia Community School District Renewal passed by 51 votes.  

While Warren County voters, who live in the Xenia School District, cancelled each other's votes out with four for and four against, Greene County Xenia School District voters said yes ... 881 For the Tax Levy and 830 Against the Tax Levy. 

The levy is a renewal of a tax for the purpose of constructing renovations and improvements to school buildings and providing equipment and furnishings that the county auditor estimates will collect $499,174 annually, at a rate not exceeding 1.3 mills for each $1 of taxable value for 5 years, commencing in 2026, first due in calendar year 2027.  

Franklin City School District Income Tax failed as over 65 percent of the voters said no.

Franklin City Schools were asking its voters to approve... "an annual income tax of 1 per cent on the school district income of individuals be imposed by Franklin City School District, for 10 years, beginning January 1, 2027, for the purpose of current expenses."

2,815 voted against the income tax while 1,507 voted for the income tax.
