WARREN COUNTY, OH -- This past Tuesday, Ohio Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Clyde joined Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin, Planned Parenthood Federation of America President Alexis McGill Johnson, and Reproductive Freedom for All President Mini Timmaraju to mark the third anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs vs Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

Three years after the disastrous Dobbs decision, Ohioans have spoken over and over to tell Republicans they want the right to an abortion and all forms of reproductive healthcare. Whether it’s calling an August special election or writing manipulative ballot language, Republicans have used every tool in their toolbox to deny Ohioans the rights they voted for.

Although Ohio passed a constitutional amendment enshrining the right to an abortion, state Republicans are still set on overruling the voters and implementing their extreme, anti-abortion agenda. Last week, Republicans in the state legislature introduced a bill that would ban abortion at any stage of pregnancy, charge women who get an abortion or providers who assist with homicide, and ban IVF and IUDs.

We know that these extreme, anti-freedom bans are deeply unpopular. For years, a majority of Americans have opposed abortion bans, and in states with Republican leadership like mine, we’ve seen voters rise up to demand reproductive rights protections,” said Clyde. “While Republicans work overtime to take away Ohioans fundamental freedoms, Democrats will always fight to ensure Ohio won’t go back.”
