WARREN COUNTY, OHIO -- Election Day is coming up November 5th. The bombardment of information concerning the Presidential Election, may have caused some to forget there are other races being challenged... that impact us locally.
While the candidates running for our local Warren County offices are not being challenged, Warren County residents will be choosing who they want to represent them in Columbus as a State House Representative and in Washington DC for our US House Representative.
When it comes to voting on an Ohio State House Representatives, Warren County is divided into two districts: District 55 and District 56. District 55 encompasses much of Warren County except for the cities of Mason and Lebanon and the townships of Deerfield and Turtlecreek, which then, make up District 56.
Running for the open seat in District 55, since current State Representative Scott Lipps has termed out, are two new people: Laura Marie Davis, who is running as a democrat and Michelle Teska, who is running as a republican. (To learn about candidates for District 56 click here.)
PLEASE TELL THE VOTERS WHY YOU DECIDED TO RUN FOR OFFICE...
Laura Marie Davis (D):
I grew up in Warren County, and I look forward to raising my own family in the communities that I call home. Unfortunately, I know that there are many people whose voices and values are not being represented by our current politicians. I think it’s important that we have honest, open conversations about the issues that really matter.I have the personal and professional experiences to lead these conversations and advocate for our communities as a State Representative.

SHARE ANY QUALIFICATION(S) OR EXPERIENCE(S) YOU HAVE OR HAVE HAD THAT YOU BELIEVE WILL HELP YOU SERVE IN THIS OFFICE...
Laura Marie Davis (D):
I was raised in Deerfield Township, and I have fond memories of spending summer days
on Caesar Creek Lake, going to pick out pumpkins at Iron’s Fruit Farm, and Christmas
trees at the Big Tree Plantation. My mom was also an elementary school music teacher in
Springboro Schools. Besides my personal experiences and relationships within the local
communities, I also have professional experience in public engagement. As a community
outreach consultant, I’ve been helping people have better conversations about political
topics for the last five years.

According to the Warren County Board of Elections, out of the 175,086 voters, 70% of the registered voters are labeled as No Party. (24% are Republican and 6% are Democrat.) If elected, would you be more inclined to vote your party line or vote for what you believe the people in Warren County desire?
Laura Marie Davis (D):
I resonate with the many voters who feel unrepresented by the two major parties. I absolutely believe that the role of a Representative is to represent the will of the people, not to follow a party’s political agenda.
