SPRINGBORO, OH -- Although it is still November, La Comedia has rolled out a famous Christmas offering this year... SCROOGE! The Musical!
It is definitely what we all need this holiday season. The musical version, written by Leslie Bricusse who wrote the Willie Wonka sound track, has songs and dance numbers, plus the drama, you would want in a Christmas Carol.
Catie Cummings as Christmas Past with Scrooge played by Chris Beiser Chris Beiser, who is also the resident Artistic Director of La Comedia, takes on the role of Ebenezer Scrooge singing the songs with a passion for the role. As the Christmas “ghosts”, Catie Cummings is the enchanting Ghost of Christmas Past, Chris Kramer shines as the Ghost of Christmas Present (Chris, also this year, is the soloist for O Holy Night at the show’s conclusion) and Garrett Hummel is the scary Ghost of Christmas Future. John Dorney provided a very terrifying but singing- Marley.
Singing and dancing their way through the show are: Jonathan Pendergrass in the multiple roles of Harry, Young Scrooge and Mallory; Georgia Marie as Isabel and Helen. With incredible energy is Dylan Jackson as Tom Jenkins, who really is a stand out with his superior musical theatre abilities in several numbers of the show in addition to his dramatic scenes .
The Crachit FamilyNo production of the Christmas Carol would be complete without the Crachit Family. Bob Crachit is played ably by Ty Smith, while Mrs Crachit is portrayed with spirit by Tori Kocher. Tiny Tim is played by Micah Boone Carroll, who sang with heartfelt feeling. The children’s cast in all areas of the show were a delight! The Fezziwigs, played by Steve Lakes and Sierra Jones, added pep and humor to their scenes.
The Ensemble is on stage more often than in many productions.Never enough can be said about the quality Ensembles in each show at La Comedia. There are numerous singing and dancing numbers in SCROOGE! The Musical! A special note is Elaine Wilson (Ensemble) who has performed at La Comedia for 39 years and is the only performer to have worked with all 4 owners in nearly 20 shows!

Tickets are still available for this holiday "treat," which will play through December 28. Prices start at $75.00, which includes a buffet dinner or brunch, free parking and the show. This is definitely the best and most budget friendly way to see the Christmas Carol story this year. Scrooge WOULD definitely approve!
Performances are: Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. For this show: Wednesdays have been added.
